The Kenya High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia wishes to recruit full time proffessional to join a team of staff to help it realize it's mandate aligned to Economic Diplomacy.

Job Description

The Mission is looking for a mature, independent and strategic actor who enjoys the challenges associated with a competitive global environment that matches today's business environment and specifically seeking and expanding business between Kenya and Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei

Specific Duties will include but not limited to:

  • a. Developing and facilitating in the the implementation of mission-specific purpose-output stakeholders strategy targeting all the relevant segments of the host country;
  • b. Research on available opportunities for Kenyan products and services and advise the Mission accordingly;
  • c. Use framework agreements to advance the economic and commercial interests of Kenya in the host country;
  • d. Lobby and negotiate for preferential treatment of Kenya goods and services entering the host country;
  • e. Follow up on trade and investment forums targeting leading host country private sector campaigns and business associations;
  • f. Set up and maintain up to date data bank on trade and investment related issues and generate periodic reports;

The position requires a person with the following qualifications:

  1. 1. At least 3 years hands on experience in Trade and Investment field; Experience ina Diplomatic Mission will be an added advantage.
  2. 2. A bachelors degree in Economics, Business administration, Marketing or law;
  3. 3. Excellent written and oral English in addition to Malay and local languages;
  4. 4. Good grasp of the Business Regulatory regimes,, main business/investment associations and government policies on Business and Investments;
  5. 5. Fair understanding of the economic, technical and investment framework/technical cooperation including negotiation strategies and follow up mechanism;
  6. 6. Set up and maintain up to date data bank on trade and investment related issues and generate periodic reports;
  7. 7. A good understanding of local and global issues impacting on trade and investments;
  8. 8. Must be a team player with excellent communication skills;
