The relations between Kenya and the Philippines are warm and cordial. Diplomatic relations were established in 1967. The Philippines has maintained a resident diplomatic mission in Nairobi since 1975, while Kenya is represented in the Philippines by the High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and an Honorary Consul in Manila, Mr. Albert Sycip Yuchengco.
Economic and Technical Co-operation
Kenya and Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in March 2010 which provides a foundation for regular consultative meetings to explore ways to broaden and strengthen political, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
People to People Links
People-to-People links between Kenyans and Filipinos through trade, investment, cultural exchange, education, tourism and migration are significant. Over 300 Kenyans are estimated to be living in the Philippines.
