Download Form PP1 (Kenya_passport_application_PP1) if over the age of 16 or ;
Form PP2 (Kenya_passport_application_PP2) if under the age of 16 years.

Sections 1, 2, 4 and 5 of this form must be completed by all applicants for new passports.
Sections 7 and 8 must be completed if the applicant’s wife and children under 16 are to be included in the passport.

Joint Passports
A joint passport for husband and wife cannot be issued if the wife is not a citizen of Kenya. The marriage certificate must be produced.
A joint passport cannot be used by the wife or children if they are not traveling with the holder of the passport. A new passport is required by a woman on marriage. Children over 16 years of age (14 years if proceeding to the USA) may not be included in an adult’s passport.

Recommendation of Application:
The application must be recommended in Section 6 by a citizen of Kenya, such as a Minister of Religion, a Medical or Legal Practitioner, an established Civil Servant or Bank Official personally acquainted with the applicant, but not by immediate relatives.

Photographs:
Two copies of a recent photograph of the applicant (and also his wife where a joint passport is applied for) must be included with the application. These photographs must be taken full face without hat, and the photographs must not be mounted.

The size of the photograph must not be more than 2.5 inches by 2 inches or less than 2 inches by 1.5 inches. The photographs must be printed on normal thin photographic paper and must not be glazed on the reverse side.

The recommender is also required to endorse the reverse side of one copy of the photograph with the words: “I certify that this is a true likeness of the applicant Mr. (Mrs. or Miss) ……………………..” and add his signature.
Where a joint passport is applied for one copy of the wife’s photograph should be similarly certified.

Children under the age of 21 years of age may not be granted passport facilities without the written consent of the legal guardian, i.e. the father, or if the father is dead, the mother, except where the applicant is married or a member of the armed forces.

Documentary evidence must be produced to support claims to citizenship status.

All applications must be supported by a previous passport or a birth certificate
